The Advanced Learning Plan (ALP)
Gifted liaisons in each building communicate with students and parents to create goals in strength areas. Students may have a cognitive goal in a strength area or an interest-based goal. These goals help the students to do their best in each situation and focus and make continuous progress in school. They should be appropriately challenged in an academic environment that can help maximize their potential. Each student will also have an affective goal. The students' affective goals are a way to help the students cope with their social emotional needs and/or needs such as perfectionism or underachievement.
The liaisons would like parent input. They often send home surveys or requests for parent input through the mail or email. Please help them create the ALP with your help. If you would like to have a conversation or conference about the ALP, please reach out to your child’s liaison. Please sign the ALP when it comes home at Parent teacher conferences or with your child.
