Four seats will be open in November, and registered voters residing in Weld Re-8 School District will have the opportunity to vote for four candidates at the November 4, 2025, election. Board members are limited to serving two consecutive elected four-year terms. The terms of current Board members can be viewed on the Meet the Board webpage.
District A (2025 - 2027) - Two Year Term
District C (2025 - 2029) - Four Year Term
District F (2025-2029) - Four Year Term
District G (2025-2029) - Four Year Term
Running for School Board
A candidate for the Weld Re-8 School District Board must be:
- A resident and registered voter of the school district for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the election
- Not be convicted of a sexual offense against a child
- Because school director elections are nonpartisan, candidates may not run as a member of a political party
Candidate Election Timeline
*This timeline is not all encompassing. Candidates are responsible for identifying and meeting all legal and financial deadlines.
- August 6, 2025: First day to pick up and circulate nomination petitions. Petitions will be available to pick up between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Weld Re-8 School Administration Building, 200 South Fulton Avenue, Fort Lupton CO 80621.
- August 29, 2025, 4:30 p.m.: Deadline for school director candidates to file a nomination petition with circulators' notarized affidavits, notarized acceptance of nomination, and written notice of intent to be a candidate.
- August 29, 2025, 4:30 p.m.: Deadline for school director write-in candidates to file an affidavit of intent to be a candidate.
- November 4, 2025: Election Day

Nomination Procedure
Colorado election law requires all candidates to file a nomination petition with the school district's designated election official (DEO). Petitions will be available to pick up between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Weld Re-8 School District Administration Building, 200 South Fulton Avenue, Fort Lupton, CO 80621 from August 6-29, 2025. Nomination petitions must be signed by at least 50 registered voters who live within the school district. It is highly recommended that candidates obtain more than the minimum number of required signatures in case some of the signatures are invalid. The deadline to submit nomination petitions to the designated election office is Friday, August 29th at 4:30 p.m.
Campaign Finance Filing Requirements
From the CASB School Board Candidate Guide:
School board candidates must comply with the Colorado Fair Campaign Practices Act (FCPA). All candidates must file a candidate affidavit with the Colorado Secretary of State's office within 10 days of becoming a candidate. Candidates are also required to report contributions and expenditures through the Secretary of State's online TRACER; program. These reports are required even if you spend $0.00 campaigning.

Candidates may not engage in campaign activities or collect signatures for their nomination petitions on Weld Re-8 School District property during the school day or at a school- or District-sponsored event, activity, or program (including but not limited to the Superintendent’s Listening Sessions) taking place outside of school hours. Candidates are permitted to collect signatures on District property outside of the school day, when school is not in session, or at a community event taking place on District property. All candidates who collect signatures on District property are subject to and must comply with Policy KFA regarding public conduct on District property. Candidates seeking to distribute or post campaign materials on District property at any time must request approval from the Superintendent at least 48 hours in advance in accordance with Policy KHC and its accompanying regulation, KHC-R.
