Important Safety Notification for Twombly Elementary Community

Dear Twombly Elementary School Community,

I am writing to inform you about a safety incident that occurred this morning, Thursday, September 25, 2025, before the start of the school day.

At approximately 7:00 a.m., our maintenance team was notified of a potential concern regarding a possible gas odor coming from the school kitchen. While an initial inspection did not confirm a leak, out of an abundance of caution and prioritizing the safety of our staff, we immediately contacted the local fire department and our gas utility company.

As a precautionary measure, the few staff members present in the building at that time were evacuated. Please note that no students were present during this incident. The Fort Lupton Fire Department arrived around 7:15 a.m. to conduct thorough sniff tests and inspections. They determined that there was no evidence of a gas leak, and the building was deemed safe.

Normal operations resumed at 7:35 a.m.

We understand that safety is a top priority, and we thank our maintenance team for their prompt reporting and the Fort Lupton Fire Department for their quick and professional response. The safety and well-being of our entire school community will always remain our highest priority.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.

Sincerely,
Dr. Justin E. Ralston
Superintendent
Weld Re-8 School District
