Hello Weld Re-8 Parents and Community,
We hope this email finds you enjoying the summer break. The last three weeks have been busy across the school district, and we want to keep you apprised of our current administrative staffing announcements. To begin, please welcome the following new employees:
Christopher Kieffer has been hired as the new Principal at Fort Lupton Middle School. He comes to us from Greeley-Evans School District 6, where he was a Principal at Chappelow Arts Magnet School. Christopher has over fifteen years of experience as a Principal with a proven track record of leading schools to achieve academic excellence and foster strong community relationships.
Darin Senseney has been hired as the Assistant Principal at Fort Lupton Middle School. He was formerly employed as an AP/Athletic Director at Fort Lupton Middle School. Mr. Senseney has been a Bluedevil for fifteen years now in Weld Re-8, where he began as a Social Studies teacher at the high school.
Sarah Murchie has been offered the position as the new Dean of Students at Fort Lupton High School. She was previously a math teacher at FLHS for five years. Sarah has served on the district Calendar Committee and Negotiations Team,, where she has demonstrated her leadership skills and devotion to our students in Weld Re-8.
Zachary White has been hired as Assistant Principal at Fort Lupton High School. He comes to us from Bromley East Charter School in Brighton and has seventeen years of experience as a school administrator. He has a proven track record for data analysis and instructional leadership as well as fostering school safety.
Dr. Brian Childress has been hired as Chief Operations Officer for Weld Re-8. He comes to us with over ten years of experience at the district level and 29 years in education. His experience includes being the Director of Safety/Assessments/Enrollment, Director of Human Resources, Curriculum Director, as well as Chief Human Resource Officer, and Adjunct Professor for the University of Denver.
Erin Peak has been hired as the District Director of Exceptional Student Services. Erin was new to Weld Re-8 during the 2024-25 school year, where she joined us as the ESS Coordinator in the Spring. She came to us from Montezuma County, where she served as a Special Education Coordinator for San Juan BOCES. Erin has eight years of experience as a Special Education administrator.
Jim Roedel has been hired as the District-wide Athletic Director. He will have an office both at the high school and middle school for access to coaches, student athletes, referees, and equipment as needed, and will spend the majority of his days between those two buildings. Jim has been with Weld Re-8 for ten years occupying positions at the high school and district office and serves as the high school boys basketball head coach.
Melissa Klomp has been hired for the position of District Academic Support Administrator. She will be the Principal of our district Online Academy school as well as MTSS Coordinator and District Assessment Coordinator. Melissa formerly served as the high school Assistant Principal, and Online Academy Principal and has been with Weld Re-8 for two years.
We would also like to take this opportunity to say goodbye and thank you to Julie Garcia, Principal at Homyak PK-8. After twelve years of serving as Quest Academy/Homyak PK-8 Principal, Julie is moving on to a new chapter in her life. She will always be remembered and revered for her dedication to the students she served, the staff she led, and the parents she supported. Mrs. Garcia formed strong relationships with all of her stakeholders, creating a positive and welcoming culture of collaboration, with high instructional expectations to provide a quality education to the students at Quest & Homyak. We are grateful for her commitment to our students, staff, parents, and community and wish her well in her new adventures.
