Weld Re-8 School District Announces New Partnership with Right At School for After-School Enrichment and Summer Programs

FORT LUPTON, CO – March 23, 2026 – Following the abrupt departure of the previous after-school provider last spring, Weld Re-8 School District worked quickly to establish an in-house program to support families. While the district is incredibly grateful to the dedicated staff members who stepped up to help run this interim initiative, the long-term feasibility of sustaining it proved challenging.

"When we faced the sudden departure of our previous provider, our immediate priority was to ensure our families weren't left without support," said Dr. Brian Childress, Chief Operating Officer, who was instrumental in ensuring the district had a program this year. "I am incredibly proud of how our district staff rallied together to establish an in-house program. Their dedication provided a vital bridge for our community during a challenging time."

Driven by the goal of providing a meaningful, high-quality, and resource-rich program in a safe and affordable environment, the district embarked on a search for a permanent solution. Today, Weld Re-8 is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Right At School, a nationally recognized before and after-school enrichment provider. Backed by the unanimous support of the Weld Re-8 Board of Education, this comprehensive program will launch in the Fall of 2026 at every elementary school within the district: Butler, Twombly, and Homyak.

“We have been working diligently to develop a reliable, long-term solution for our families and community because we understand how important dependable childcare is to their daily lives,” said Dr. Justin E. Ralston, Superintendent of Weld Re-8 School District. “I consistently heard this need during my listening tour from families and staff. Students have also advocated for after-care programming in my Superintendent Cabinet meetings.”

School Board Director Thomas Holton, who serves as the board's lead for after-school programming, echoed the importance of this milestone. "I am incredibly thankful that we are able to bring back a truly meaningful program to our community," said Holton. "Our families rely heavily on these services, and providing a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for our students after the final bell rings is a major win for everyone."

Dr. Childress, who worked extensively behind the scenes to bring the new provider on board for next year, added, "While our interim program served its immediate purpose, we knew our students deserved a robust and sustainable enrichment experience. Securing this partnership with Right At School has been a meticulous process, and we are thrilled to bring a world-class program to Weld Re-8 that aligns with our vision for student success and family support."
