Four-year-old program
Weld Re-8 School District's Four-Year-Old Pre-K Program is a critical stepping stone, providing a comprehensive, standards-aligned educational experience to ensure every child is fully prepared for success in Kindergarten and beyond. We offer a stimulating, nurturing, and highly engaging learning environment specifically designed for children between the ages of four and five.

Program Location and Structure:
The Pre-K program is fully integrated within our elementary schools (2 classes at Twombly and Butler Elementary), providing a seamless transition into the K-12 environment. Classes are structured to foster increased independence, complex language use, and the mastery of foundational concepts essential for formal schooling.

Safety and Supervision:
The well-being and security of every child are our paramount concerns. We ensure continuous, vigilant supervision provided by a team of compassionate, reliable, and experienced adult caregivers. Our child-to-staff ratios are maintained to guarantee personalized attention and care for each child throughout the day.

Curriculum and Activities:
Our curriculum is developmentally appropriate, focusing on the whole child by supporting social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. We utilize the highly-regarded Learning Without Tears curriculum to promote foundational skill acquisition across all domains:

● Handwriting and Literacy (Learning Without Tears): The curriculum focuses on developing readiness skills for reading and writing through multi-sensory activities that teach letter recognition, capital letter formation, and pencil grip in a fun, engaging way.
● Early Math and Cognitive Skills: Activities focus on developing number sense, geometric shapes, measurement concepts, and critical problem-solving skills necessary for formal instruction.
● Play-Based Learning: Cooperative free play is intentionally incorporated to foster creativity, advanced social skills, group interaction, and the ability to follow classroom rules and structure.
● Social-Emotional Development: Activities focus on self-regulation, empathy, conflict resolution, cooperation, and building positive peer relationships in a structured classroom setting.
● Music and Movement: Group singing, guided dancing, and structured physical activities support advanced gross motor skills, rhythm, and following multi-step directions.
